What inspired me to write this book and the lesson of the book

I was inspired to write this book because I believe the message of showing up as your authentic self, no matter what others may think, is a powerful lesson that will benefit children throughout their entire lives. I really wanted to write this as a children’s book because I wish I had known the power of this message when I was younger. Instead, I remember always being nervous about being myself. I would dim my light in certain situations because I didn’t want to seem “weird” or “uncool” and would really only let my family and closest friends see my true light. That tendency stuck with me throughout my life, and it wasn’t until I went to acting school did I realized the power of my uniqueness and beauty in being myself.
Lastly, another message I would love children (and adults!) reading this book to take away is that there is a tangible joy you exude when you embrace your uniqueness and let your inner light shine. This joy not only makes you feel good, but it also makes those around you feel good and confident to let their light shine as well! I know for myself whenever I’m around someone who is authentically being themselves, it always inspires me to do the same!
